This describes Message Edit feature that allows the user to correct a typo, replace the original message with another text or paraphrase the original message. Follow the steps below to learn more on how to use message editing in Elevate Desktop App:
- Hover over the message you want to edit
- Click the Pencil icon
- Edit the selected message and click Save changes
- Once edited, message will have the Edited tag next to the timestamp

Why doesn’t the Edit button appear when hovering over a message?
- Check if you have the latest version of Elevate, and you are the author of the message.
- Check that no more than 48 hours have passed since you sent the message. After that time you are not allowed to edit the message.
Can I edit the attachment?
No, the user cannot edit the following types of messages:
- created by other users
- unsent message
- MMS/SMS
- attachments
- pictures
- Online Meeting invitation
- GIF
Users can only edit their text messages.
Will the other member(s) of the chat(channel) know that I edited the message?
Yes, edited messages in the chat history will be marked as Edited.
Will a read message become unread if I edit it?
No, the message will remain as read.
How much time do I have to edit a sent message?
If you have access to a message, you can edit it within 48 hours of creating it. If the message is older than 48h, the edit mark is not displayed on the plate by the hover.
How many times can I edit a message?
You can edit a message an unlimited number of times.
Can I edit a read message?
Yes, you can edit a read message just like you can edit an unread message. An "Edited" mark will appear next to the message.
If I have left the channel, can I edit my message in it?
If you have left the channel, you must join it first in order for the message editing function to become available.
Can I undo the edited and saved messages?
Once the user has edited the message and saved it, it cannot be undone.
