Enabling Contact Sync
To enable Contact Sync, go to CONTROL PANEL: Account > Security Policies > Identity Management and click click Enable contacts sync.
To enable Contact Sync, go to this tab and click Enable contacts sync.
You will be prompted to log into your Microsoft account and then to allow Azure Contact Sync to access your account. Click Accept.
After that, Contact Sync will be activated and its logo on the Identity Management tab will change.
Syncing Contacts to Elevate Mobile and Desktop Applications
When Contact Sync is enabled, your company contacts from Azure will start propagating into Elevate Desktop and Mobile applications. Private contacts will sync up only if the end-users email address in Azure matches their email in CONTROL PANEL. Synced contacts will be marked as "Synced from Outlook (M365)".
Elevate Desktop Application
Contacts will show up in Calling/Receptionist tab only if they have at least one phone number with the following phone number types: Home, Business or Mobile. The labels in different versions of Office 365 may differ. To find out the real phone types export contacts into a CSV file. It's only possible to dial a number from the desktop application if it has at least 7 digits.
Note: on the "Recent Call" tab contacts show up without phone numbers.
Elevate Mobile Application
Mobile application shows all contacts, even those without phone numbers.
Once contact is propagated to Elevate application, you can:
- Call this contact
- Send SMS/MMS to this contact (if SMS service is enabled on the account).
- Favorite contact
- Mute chat with contact
- Perform a search in SMS/MMS chat
- Perform a search for this contact in Elevate contacts list
Note: you cannot initiate Elevate chat with contacts synced from Azure AD.
Modifying Contacts in Azure AD
Users cannot delete or modify contacts synced from Azure AD. Only the Azure AD administrator can delete or modify contacts that sync up to Elevate from there. If the administrator deletes user's Azure AD or Company account, all contacts of this user will be deleted as well.
Sync Restrictions
Only the first Mobile Personal Contact phone number will be synchronized. Second and subsequent Mobile numbers will not be synced. Azure contacts with email matching already created contacts/users on Company side will not be identified among themselves.
The following entities do not sync from Azure to Elevate:
- Distribution Lists
- Groups
- Folders
- Guest users
- Entities that are not visible in GAL (Admin, Service Account)
- Personal Contact phone number types except for Mobile, Home, Business
